First off the title of this post comes from a children's song that the kids just love. We listen to it often on the way to school. It's catchy and has now become ingrained in my brain.
Crazy had been looking forward to his field trip to the zoo for almost a month. Unfortunately he came down with a bad stomach virus the night before the field trip and being the good parents that we are, we couldn't with good conscious let him go. It was going to be the first field trip that one of us didn't accompany him and we were worried that he'd get sick again in front of everyone (picture on the bus) and be scarred for life. So that meant a round of rock, paper, scissors to determine who had the ugly job of informing him he couldn't go to the zoo. I stink at the game so by the time I told him that he would have to stay home with me he was almost in tears. Many offers of bribes later, we settled on a family trip to the zoo that weekend complete with a stop at the gift shop which wasn't allowed on the field trip. Several days later found us at the local zoo.
This is a picture of the moment when Boo decided she no longer likes giraffes. Notice the long black tongue. After it made contact with her, she informed me that she is now scared of giraffes. Darn those fierce giraffes!
This last picture was taken by Hubby in the petting zoo area. I was across the zoo sitting on a picnic table in the shade trying not to pass out from the heat and cursing being pregnant in Florida. We managed to stay at the zoo around two hours before the black around my vision increased to a point that I made hubby pull the kids from the petting zoo so we could go eat lunch in an air-conditioned building. While I sat in the van with the A/C on high the kids picked out souvenirs from the gift shop. For a mere $5, Crazy got a tiger print fan and Boo picked out an iguana head grabber (no clue how to describe it). The day was a success and completely made up for the missed field trip.
