A little bit of crazy anyone?

So for over a week now I've been getting very little sleep. I think I'm averaging around 4 hours a night. I'm one of those people that needs, no, demands, at least 8. When I do finally fall asleep I have the craziest dreams. I was telling Shannon about one of my dreams yesterday and she got the biggest kick out of it (I'm glad you're enjoying my insanity so much Shan) and wanted to hear about my next one. So I decided to tell everyone in the hopes that someone out there can tell me what the hell it means! So please, analyze away...

Hubby and I are at some tropical spa-like place and are going to take a swim. I'm walking through a jungle until I get to a narrow river that is only say 8 feet deep and has koi fish swimming in it. So I get in the water and am relaxing. I'd like to say here that I looked DAMN good in my swimsuit! No baby fat at all! Anyway, I don't see Hubby anywhere and for some reason start to get scared. I start calling out for him when suddenly I realize that a massive white snake is like a foot away from me. It's some type of water snake that is at least 12 feet long and pure white. It's looking right at me and I'm trying to swim around it very slowly, the whole time hoping that it doesn't kill me. I'm whispering Hubby's name and I finally see him a little farther down the river. I make it almost completely by the snake when Hubby starts telling me that I should be careful because those kind of snakes are dangerous. Does he help me get completely past the snake? No. Instead he waits until I'm right next to him to pull me out of the water. Once we're out he gives me a hug. Suddenly my mother-in-law comes out of nowhere. Then my sister-in-law comes up. They look very upset and tell us that there is no time to be doing that because we need to go inside and help them with the shopping. So we follow them down this jungle trail and walk inside this HUGE grocery store warehouse (think Costco on steroids). Suddenly it's imperative that I find a box of those entertaining crackers (you know the ones I'm talking about, some of the crackers are shaped like butterflies). I'm looking everywhere for these crackers. The store is unbelievably huge and I'm practically getting lost in the produce section. The whole time I'm looking my mother-in-law is right there preaching to me about how I need to find the crackers. (What, she can't look?) I finally find one box of the stupid crackers but yet I'm still looking for something. I turn the corner to go to the next aisle and where am I at? A giant refrigerated section of alcohol. The aisle is dark so it's hard to see much but all of the alcohol is in big containers similar in size to kegs but they look like the normal bottles you'd buy. I'm calling for Hubby wanting to show him what I found but he can't hear me. I'm walking further down the aisle and it's getting darker. The only light is coming from inside the cases. I open a case and I'm reaching for a big bottle of something when....

I wake up. Sucks that it ends that way but blame it on the kid. He picked that moment to let me know he was awake. So what the hell does it mean?

Crazy's New Pal

While Shannon was kicking butt at the Tokyo Marathon, Crazy and I were puppysitting Kenji for her. Let me tell you, Crazy adores Kenji. I mean why not? To him he's just a big kitty and a pillow.

The two took turns following each other around the house and playing. It was fantastic! I just sat on the couch all weekend and watched tv. I don't remember the last time I actually watched tv. Maybe we should get a dog just to keep Crazy entertained.... Nah, I'm not that desperate. The big highlight of Kenji's visit was his kennel. Crazy discovered it had a door which he could repeatedly open and (slam) close. Then he realized he could actually crawl inside! Dog kennels make great playhouses. I watched Crazy try to put his ride-on airplane inside. Obviously it wasn't going to fit but that didn't deter him from trying. Kenji just stood there watching Crazy playing inside his kennel like he was crazy. (As a sidenote, Kenji does not sleep in the kennel when he stays with us. I have found that Kenji's displeasure at sleeping in the kennel leads to high pitched barking which tends to wake up Crazy. So Kenji sleeps on the bed with me and the cats.)Later that night when Crazy was finally in bed I was picking up the living room and discovered this:

Shannon came by to pick up Kenji while Crazy was napping. Poor guy was really confused when he woke up and found that his playhouse and giant cat were missing. I guess he'll have something to look forward to next time his sleepover pal comes over.

Happy Birthday Crazy!

My baby turned 1!!!! I can't believe he's one. What's even more unbelieveable is that I made it through a whole year of mommyhood. Since Hubby is gone on cruise we didn't really do a whole lot for his birthday. We'll probably have a small "party" (yeah we're going to be one of those couples that throws a party for a child who could care less) when Hubby's home. We had to acknowledge his birthday though, so my mom was there and Shannon came by for a cupcake. I bought him two helium balloons which were a big hit. Unfortunately Crazy picked his birthday to start cutting two molars. He was not a happy camper. He mostly walked aimlessly around the house crying. We finally took his temperature and found out he was running a fever. Out came the Tylenol and cold teethers. I'm glad he won't remember this birthday because it wouldn't be a very pleasant memory.

My First Port Call

Well I finally went to meet Hubby at port. Which one did I go to? Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. Yeah, I know, it doesn't sound that great. I had to pull out a map to find the place because I had never once heard of it. After visiting there I can see why. Seriously though, I had a lot of fun. My mom flew in to visit for two weeks on the 30th and we flew to Malaysia the 31st. She wasn't exactly thrilled at the prospect of another long flight (this one with a baby) the day after she flew to Japan. She had no choice though since she was acting "Nanny" on the trip. Crazy was an absolute angel on the flight though. I highly recommend Malaysia Airlines if you ever get the chance. They were wonderful, not to mention over 20 on-demand movies!

Crazy in a redneck highchair.

We arrived a day and a half before the ship because bad weather pushed their schedule back. So we walked around the area of our hotel. We stayed close to the hotel because it was pretty shady there. We drew a LOT of attention with Crazy. I swear every woman there had to touch him (visions of hand sanitizer danced through my head). We went to a few markets next to the hotel and had a lot of people stare us down. We later found out from the guys that the market was off limits to them because it is really dangerous for Americans, super!! However, the hotel treated us like movie stars. We were the one non-Asians there. On a totally random sidenote - I had the best tea ever while there. It's called Sabah Tea and is grown at the base of Mt. Kinabalu which is close to where we were. I'm not really a hot tea drinker but this tea was superb!

Sapi Island

Once Hubby arrived we moved to a resort outside of town. It was fantastic. We took a boat ride to an outlying island for a day. There we enjoyed snorkeling while Crazy played on the beach with the nanny :) While there we even saw a huge lizard. The exact name of the lizard escapes me right now.

After two days at the resort we went back to our original hotel for the day. They remembered who we were the minute we walked in. Our flight wasn't until midnight but we needed a place for Crazy to nap and it was way too hot to spend the whole day walking around. We basically booked a room with the intention of checking out at 10pm but I talked Hubby into staying there for the night before going back to the ship for duty. So we took a redeye back home and arrived in Tokyo at 6:30am.

Overall I would say my first port visit was a success. I wasn't mugged, I didn't get lost, nothing was stolen, and thanks to my "nanny" I was able to have some fun with my husband.
