I decided to cut several inches of hair off and arranged for one of the girls in my Stroller Strides class who is a hairdresser to come by the house at nap time to cut it. When Boo found out about my hair appointment she insisted on getting her hair cut too. I was pretty shocked. For the past year and a half or so she's been telling us she's growing her hair out like Rapunzel's. It had gotten pretty long and was about to her shoulder blades. She told me she wanted it cut short like some of her friends at school. I was reluctant to let her cut it because with dance and soccer each week I wanted to be able to pull it back from her face. When I informed Hubby of her request he flat out refused. After discussing it we decided to let her cut it. After all, she's four. It's not like she's requesting this a week before prom or trying to make a rebellious statement. Besides, it's a pain to brush her super fine hair in the mornings without her screaming bloody murder due to my less than stellar hair brushing skills.
The morning of the hair appointment I informed her that I was going to fix her hair any way I wanted to since I wouldn't be able to do much to it after she cut it. The battle that ensued wasn't pretty but I think we all know who won. Here's a pic of her Heidi braids (they're a little messy because I forgot to take the pic in the morning so she's already gone to school and had soccer practice):
By the end of nap time we both had new hairstyles and we both love them! I have to admit that even though I was hesitant about Boo cutting off so much hair, I think her new cut looks adorable. She looks older now, which kind of makes me sad, and her hair is a snap to brush in the mornings!
Two days later Boo looks at me and asks why her hair hasn't grown. Seriously?! I refuse to buy extensions for a four year old.
